Gypsy Fortune-telling Secrets

You’ll find gypsies all over the world. One of their most profitable professions is palm reading. They often impress their customers with insightful comments and predictions.

A “psychic” lady on TV approaches a young man in the audience. The psychic tells the young man a few things after which the young man shouts “Wow – she really knows all about me!” The entire audience (including those watching on TV) is deeply impressed by the psychics amazing “psychic” powers.

How do the gypsies and psychics impress us with their supposed “powers”? It’s really quite simple yet it still works wonders even in our modern age.

It’s called “Cold Reading” and is a tightly held secret among the pros who use it to make a comfortable living. The secret is simple yet powerful. They use generalized statements that could apply to anyone. But instead of being instantly recognized for the worthless babble they are, people find them strangely powerful and insightful.

One can only assume that the subject’s desire to believe in psychic powers short-circuits their normal ability to think critically. This leaves them open to believing in powers that don’t really exist.

For instance – one of the psychic’s favorite lines is: “you are a very sensitive person who wears a mask to protect yourself from the insensitive world”. Sound like nonsense? It should because that’s exactly what it is.

But look into a woman’s eyes and say it with conviction and watch her response. She will think that you have peered down into her very soul. She will also think that you are a rare and insightful person who sees through her mask and understands her deepest thoughts and desires.

Another one is: “you sometimes feel the need to get away and be alone so you can think”. Though it’s yet another general statement that could apply to anyone, your lady may find it very stirring.
